Manufacturers’ new orders in Romania increased in nominal terms by 0.8% overall in the first five months of 2024, y-o-y, according to data published on Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
There were increases in the capital goods industry (+5.1%), while decreases were reported in the consumer goods industry (-5.2%), intermediate goods industry (-4.7%) and the durable goods industry (-3.2%).
In May 2024, as against May 2023, manufacturers’ new orders decreased by 7.2%, as a result of weaker results in the intermediate goods industry (-10.5%), durable goods industry (-9.1%), consumer goods industry (-7.4%) and the capital goods industry (-5.2%).
On a monthly basis, manufacturers’ new orders in May 2024 decreased by 3.6% overall. Decreases were recorded in the intermediate goods industry (-6%), durable goods industry (-4%) and capital goods industry (-3.7%). Orders for consumer goods industry went up 10.3%.
